He Is Risen!
Sunday was one of those special times in a church. It was Easter Sunday and we enjoyed many of the traditional experiences that this time brings. Being outdoors for worship was invigorating, being in thoughtfully decorated worship areas lifted us up, stirring and meaningful music encouraged us, but there was another dimension that many of us noticed. There was an almost palpable sense of spiritual energy moving amongst and within us.
I would like to say that this always happens at Easter. My experience tells me that it does not. For me, this year’s experience stands out. There are numerous reasons why it did. For months in advance people have been planning and preparing for various Lenten events. As each event unfolded, people gave generously of their time to make sure that things were done properly. Finally, I sensed many were opening themselves more courageously to the power of God’s spirit. Thanks be to God from whom all blessings flow, and thanks be to all of you.
