Men’s Fellowship

DisciplesMenThe Christian Men’s Fellowship (CMF) is a ministry for men of the church, led by men of the church involved in many areas in the life of the church. We belong to the Southeast District of CMF with a membership of ten churches in southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina. The district meets on a quarterly basis while the CMF at FCC meets monthly.

The CMF sponsors the Directors’ Cabin at Camp Caroline and is responsible for the upkeep of this cabin. Camp Caroline is a two and a half hour car ride from Wilmington. When work needs to be done, a group of men from the church go together to accomplish the task(s) and to enjoy fellowship.

The CMF oversees the Jack Bowman Memorial Scholarship program for students who are members of First Christian Church studying religion classes at college. Each student is allowed up to $500 per semester upon written request and approval. The scholarship is funded through CMF fund raising projects.

The CMF is also involved in service projects within the church and community. Church members often receive help from CMF to move, clean yards, and other necessary tasks that require a helping hand.IMG_4493

Fund raising projects include apple sales, pecan sales, fish fries, and barbecues. These provide operating funds for the CMF which does not receive a budget from the church.

The best part about the CMF is the fellowship. The CMF gets together for meals, Bible study, and go on retreats. There is an annual spring retreat at Camp Caroline in early June and a fall retreat at Christmount (Black Mountain, North Carolina) usually the last weekend in September. These give the CMF an opportunity to fellowship together and with other Disciple Men’s groups from around the state. In addition to having a good time in bible study and service projects, the CMF has a great time playing the traditional round of golf at Marion Lake Golf Course (try to keep your concentration on Number 17!) or at Black Mountain Country Club (Number 17 is a par 6 beast).
