As part of the Ministry Fair Breakfast the BELONG Ministry Team announced our new alliance with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department Program called PROJECT LIFESAVER. Project Lifesaver is a reliable, rapid-response partnership with law enforcement aiding persons and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease, Down’s Syndrome, Autism, and other cognitive and developmental disorders. Deputy G. K. Moore presented this program to our members and guests. Our children enjoyed meeting and talking with him as did the adults.
This project will be led by the Belong Ministry Team. Pamphlets are available with the details of this project. We will assist in raising funds to help purchase and maintain the equipment that is provided free of any cost to these elderly persons who may wander and these children who may run or wander.
Our first fund raiser will be a yard sale at the church on Saturday, April 14. The time will be from 7am to 12pm. Project Lifesaver will receive 50% of the funds from this sale and 50% will go to the Mary Washington Howe Pre-K Center project. Donations are welcomed and must be clean. They may be dropped off at the church and placed behind the curtain beginning on April 9th between 9am and 3pm. Electronics and intimate apparel will not be accepted.
